Vibia Ring

¥41,600

This delicate ring is a classic! Modeled after an ancient Roman example from the first century BC, our ring features a thin band that gently cradles a strong, round cabochon stone set in an elegant bezel setting.

"Vibia" is the female patronymic form of the Roman name Vibius. The gens Vibia was a plebeian family with long roots, who rose to political prominence in last century BC. Vibia Sabina (AD 83 - 136) was a Roman empress, married to the emperor Hadrian (r. AD 117 - 138). She was a very public figure, awarded the title of Augusta by the senate, along with many other public honors, and she appeared regularly on Roman coinage.
