Zephyrus Pendant

€276,95

Our delicate and provocative Zephyrus pendant is based on a seventh century BC example from Lyktos, Crete. While we do not know whether or not it was meant to be anthropomorphic, the piece does suggest a human face, and may have depicted a mask. Here, large eyes engage from beneath marked eyebrows, a headband, and "curls" of hair.

In ancient art, large frontal eyes were often depicted as an apotropaic device, or one meant to ward off evil. It is our hope that the wearer of our unique and elegant pendant will feel confident and secure.

"Zephyrus" is the name of a Greek god of the western wind, thought to be the gentlest of the four.
