Nyx Pendant
This unique pendant is a representation of the moon, and is based on the pendant of a Roman necklace dating to the third century AD. Here, a strong crescent shape terminates in small spheres, and the bail is beautifully ornamented with a linear arrangement of dew drops.
According to Greek mythology, Nyx was the goddess of night. One of the first creation gods, she mothered several other deities related to night or darkness, as well as the goddess or personification of day, Hemera. Nyx and Hemera were thus tightly and forever related, sharing powers over the light upon the earth, daily. Every night, Nyx would cover the sky with her veil, bringing night, and every morning, Hemera would scatter her mother's fog and bring daylight to the earth, again.
Our pendant arrives with a 22" brown leather necklace cord at no extra cost; an accompanying silver or gold chain necklace may also be purchased, here.
