Our timeless Ilenia earrings were certainly the popular "go-to" earrings of Roman women, for more examples of this type have been found than any other style of ancient earring! Our earrings are based on an ancient Roman pair dating to the second or third century AD. The gorgeous hoop design is created with one long piece of gold wire, which is looped back around on itself and wrapped several times.
"Ilenia" is a name that, like Helen, means "bright, shining." It is derived from the ancient Greek words for “torch” (helénē/ἑλένη), "sunshine" (hēlios/ἥλιος), and "moon" (selēnē/σελήνη).
Our 24 Karat gold earrings are available for $1,025
